Kidney disease affects 31 million Americans and their loved ones.

We have joined KIDNEYNATION to help fund the fight against kidney disease because this cause is very personal to us.

Our mother, Gloria, had diabetes that caused her kidneys to fail over 9 years ago.  As a result she underwent dialysis treatment for the last 9 years of her life.

She was such an inspiration to us all.  She always smiled, and even after her body started to reject the dialysis she never complained.   When she made the decision to stop her treatment at 84 years of age, we spent the last 5 days of her life celebrating a “live wake” with countless friends and family.  She would ask for more chairs, more food, and want to know who was coming next.

Less than 2 weeks after she passed away, we decided to have a memory walk around a local lake.  We quickly set up a website to collect donations for the American Kidney Fund’s mission of providing assistance to dialysis patients.

Dialysis gave her life, and we wanted to help others access that same life-saving treatment.  In all we raised over $5,000 for AKF in memory of our beloved Gloria Brian.

Your donation is more than a gift to the American Kidney Fund – it is an investment in people’s lives.  Since AKF spends 97 cents of every donated dollar on patients and programs, you can feel great about that investment.

Thank you for your support and generosity!

Charity Navigator gives AKF a 4-star rating and ranks AKF as a top 10 U.S. charity.
